Early Childhood iPad Initiative

Abstract

The Early Childhood iPad Initiative was a strategy implemented in 2012 in 19 WA primary schools in metropolitan, regional and rural areas. Through individual partnership agreements with each school, the WA Department of Education focused on two key reform areas. The first was integrating iPads into effective and evidence-based teaching of literacy and numeracy. The second was integrating iPads into strong school leadership and whole-school engagement with literacy and numeracy. The strategy used an action learning model where teachers were supported by the Department's Curriculum Partnerships Team and a designated project coordinator.
