Things to think about

  1. 1.If you eat bread, how do you like to eat it? What different types of bread do you know? When do you think humans started making bread to eat? How do people make bread?
  2. 2.What food crop is used for making bread? What does the yeast in the bread do? What are the three parts of a grain of wheat? What are some different types of bread?
  3. 3.The clip mentions some healthy types of bread to eat. What are they, and why are they healthy? Does anything make eating a bread less healthy? Ask an adult to help you make some bread at home. Draw and label the steps you used to make bread. How is it different when bread is made in a large factory?
  4. 4.Draw a diagram (picture with labels) of a wheat grain. Use this diagram to explain to someone the difference between white and wholemeal flour. Make a poster or a slide show to show why it is healthier to eat wholemeal bread. What questions could you ask about different types of bread? Ask an adult to take you to a bakery to find answers to your questions.
