Find out how some tuna is farmed and how the tuna farmer meets the needs of these tuna.

Things to think about

  1. 1.Have you ever been fishing or seen people fish? How do people catch fish? What do you need to know about fish and their needs to help catch different types of fish?
  2. 2.Notice the different ways tuna are caught. See how tuna are kept in cages in the sea and how they are fed. Look at all the stages that go into producing canned tuna.
  3. 3.What do tuna farmers need to know about tuna kept in cages in the sea? What would happen if the farmers did not feed them properly? What do you think about this type of farming? How is life different for the tuna when they are put into cages?
  4. 4.Find out from a family friend or relative how to catch different fish. The fish might live in fresh water or in salt water. Draw the different baits to use and where the fish can be caught (their habitat or where they live). Compare the needs of these different types of fish.
