Count Us In, Ep 6: Cool ways to count 6 to 10

SUBJECTS:  Maths

YEARS:  F–2

Dodly and Flynn meet while Flynn is building a model volcano.

They count snails and toy dinosaurs and show different ways to represent each of the numbers from six to ten through writing, drawing or sharing between two groups.

The Super Seven and others also help out.

Things to think about

  1. 1.Practise counting from one to ten. What do each of the numbers look like? Can you write them all?
  2. 2.Pause the video after watching the Super Seven. What were the ways they made 7? Can you think of any other ways to make 7?
  3. 3.During the video, Dodly and Flynn showed some ways to make 8, such as 1 and 7 or 3 and 5. How many other ways can you make 8? Model with counters first then draw all the ways you can make 8.
  4. 4.What are all the ways you can make other numbers? Show all the ways to make 10 if you have two plates of cup cakes. What about making 7? Model the different ways then draw each way you find. Try for all the numbers to ten.
