Mixed Up Maths, Ep 8: Strawberry milkshake warrior princess

SUBJECTS:  Maths

YEARS:  3–4

Super heroes have amazing powers.

To avert disaster we need a super hero who has intelligence, strength and speed. Which super hero has the right super units of each super power?

Compare the super hero bar graphs. Will it be Mega Muscle Man, Atomic Angel, Keyboard Kid or some other super hero? Watch the clip to find out?

Things to think about

  1. 1.Do you have a favourite super hero? What are his or her special powers? How would you rate their powers out of ten? For example the Hulk, I'd give him 10 out of 10 for strength, 7 out of 10 for speed and only about 6 out of 10 for intelligence (how smart someone is).
  2. 2.View the bar graphs showing each super hero's power. What does the orange bar show? Mega Muscle Man has speed but is short on which two powers? Does Atomic Angel have enough super units for each power? In which super power does the Keyboard Kid have 10 super units? Why was a brand new super hero created?
  3. 3.Create your own super hero with super powers. Make a bar graph to show his or her super powers measured in super units. You may decide to use a different scale for super units such as 20, 50 or 100. Give your graph a title. Don't forget to label the special powers.
  4. 4.Create a bar graph for these two super heroes. Compare their powers. Slime man: strength 13 out of 20, speed 10 out of 20, ability to slime things 20 out of 20. Bendable Barb: strength 15 out of 20, speed 12 out of 20, ability to bend 20 out of 20. Create a story using these two super heroes showing off their super powers.
