Thinking about the design process

SUBJECTS:  Technologies

YEARS:  7–8, 9–10

Watch as UNSW student and Blusat member William Frohlich talks about the design process.

What are some of the important things to consider before you start to make a project? Why does William say it's important to be flexible with your designs?

Design your own obstacle course for your family using objects from around your home, or for your classmates using equipment from school. What sort of things will you need to think about before you start? Which objects or pieces of equipment will you use? Will you make instructions? Where will you set up the obstacle course? What kind of experience do you want your family or friends to have as they go through the course?

Do some brainstorming and some drawings of your designs and then go and create them. Did your ideas change as you started to make your obstacle course?
