Literacy coaching - reading comprehension

Abstract

The professional-learning partnership between a Literacy Coach and teachers from Reception (Foundation) to year 7 in Darlington Primary School, SA, led to a whole-school focus on reading comprehension to improve student achievement and learning outcomes.

This strategy had an impact on levels of reading comprehension through explicit teaching, improved engagement in learning, and attention to higher-order thinking and learning tasks in class programs.
