This work sample demonstrates evidence of student learning in relation to aspects of the achievement standards for Year 10 History. The primary purpose for the work sample is to demonstrate the standard, so the focus is on what is evident in the sample not how it was created. The sample is an authentic representation of student work and may contain errors such as spelling mistakes and other inaccuracies. In this work sample students: • explain the role of significant ideas, individuals, groups and institutions connected to the developments of this period and their influences on Australian and global history • analyse the origin, content, context and purpose of primary and secondary sources • sequence events and developments to analyse cause and effect, and patterns of continuity and change, connected to a period, event or movement • evaluate perspectives of significant events and developments, and explain the important factors that influence these perspectives • use historical knowledge, concepts and terms to develop descriptions, explanations and historical arguments that synthesise evidence from sources.
