Work sample Year 8 Science: Bouncing ball

This work sample demonstrates evidence of student learning in relation to aspects of the achievement standards for Year 8 Science. The primary purpose for the work sample is to demonstrate the standard, so the focus is on what is evident in the sample not how it was created. The sample is an authentic representation of student work and may contain errors such as spelling mistakes and other inaccuracies. In this work sample students: • compare different forms of energy and represent transfer and transformation of energy in simple systems • plan and conduct safe, reproducible investigations to test relationships and explore models • select and use equipment to generate and record data with precision • select and construct appropriate representations to organise and process data and information • analyse data and information to describe patterns, trends and relationships and identify anomalies • construct evidence-based arguments to support conclusions and evaluate claims • select and use language and text features appropriately for their purpose when communicating their ideas, findings and arguments to specific audiences.
