Learning objects Building site: level 1 [Flash Player version]

TLF ID L7548

Look down at a group of single-storey buildings. Think about which buildings could be seen by a person standing on the ground. Use coloured blocks to build a street-level view of the buildings. Build views from different perspectives: front, side or back. This learning object is one in a series of four objects that progressively increases in difficulty. The series is also packaged as a combined learning object.

Educational details

Key learning objectives
  • Students interpret and visualise 2D representations of 3D objects.
  • Students translate an aerial view to a profile view.
Educational value
  • Encourages students to use visualisation skills to imagine different perspectives for viewing the same objects.
  • Illustrates that the perceived shape of an object depends on the observer’s viewing point.
  • Allows students to view objects from different angles and then use that information to construct a 3D scene.
