Learning objects Whole numbers level 5: four-digit numbers

This set of online activities focuses on the development and consolidation of number concepts to four digits and beyond. This is the fifth of seven levels in a series focusing on whole numbers to six digits. This level develops ideas about place value, rounding and number notation. Each level includes interactive drills and practice in a game format, worksheets, diagnostic and assessment materials and related resources that may be printed or viewed onscreen.

Educational value
  • The consolidation activities are reusable and challenge students to match 10 questions involving whole numbers with answer tiles selected from a set of 12 alternatives. The 10 questions are randomly selected from a pool of 20 questions. Each time the student plays the game, it is different.
  • An audio option assists students who have difficulty reading the statements, and students work against a timer to provide their responses.
  • Video clips assist teachers to become familiar with and navigate the entire resource collection.
