This is an interactive resource containing a game, interactive simulations, detailed information and links to other useful information on bushfire readiness, including a downloadable fire plan. It consists of three sections - Fire risk, How a fire behaves and Fire safety - covering topics such as fire danger rating, radiant heat, ember attack, fire spread, topograph, and fire safety and awareness. This resource was designed by Country Fire Authority (CFA) Victoria and includes instructions in text and audio, and an accessible version.

  • This is a useful resource for year 5 geography, particularly for the content description in Geographical Knowledge and Understanding referring to the impact of bushfires on environments and communities, and the need for careful management.
  • This is a useful resource for the Landforms and landscapes unit of study in year 8 geography. It is of particular use for the content description in Geographical Knowledge and Understanding referring to the causes and impacts of landscape hazards such as bushfires.
  • The resource can contribute to students attaining those elements of the achievement standard in year 5 geography referring to recognising that the environment influences the human characteristics of a place and how places change due to human activity; and in year 8 geography referring to describing measures used for landscape protection and hazard mitigation.
