This is a teaching and learning resource containing teacher resources, student activities and worksheets on Earth science topics including natural disasters and geology. The teacher resources include five pages of links to Earth science related websites. The collection of student activities covers a range of topics and includes crosswords about volcanoes, templates for paper models of landslides and tectonic plates, experiments to model volcanoes and cyclones, and a key for identifying igneous rocks.

  • This resource is of great value in targeting the year 8 geography content description about the causes and impacts of geomorphic hazards and the year 6 science content description about the effect of sudden geological and weather changes on the Earth's surface. The resource includes experiments that model the eruption of volcanos and cyclones, and activities about the nature and study of volcanoes, with links to websites dealing with the causes and impacts of natural disasters.
  • This resource is of some value in targeting the year 8 science content description about sedimentary, igneous and metamorphic rocks. It includes a key for identifying igneous rocks, an experiment to model the process of igneous rock formation, and links to websites containing information about the three types of rock and minerals.
  • This resource is of some value in targeting the geography content descriptions about the impact of bushfires or floods (year 5), and about hydrological hazards (year 7), and the year 4 science content description about the effect of natural processes and human activity on the Earth's surface. It contains links to websites about bushfires, floods, cyclones and severe weather in Australia.
  • This resource is of some value in targeting the year 9 science content description about the theory of plate tectonics. It includes paper model templates of the global plate boundaries and of a landslide, details and images of tectonic events in Melbourne and Tonga, and links to resources about earthquakes and plate tectonics.
