This is a compilation of three teaching sequences about posters as media art. It includes sections on the purpose and core elements of posters, the use of health campaigns to raise awareness of health issues, the use of public health posters to address health issues of the day, and different presentations of malaria health posters. The section on the global health issue of malaria provides ten posters from different times and countries. The resource also includes a suite of digital posters to engage students in developing knowledge, understanding and skills in the creative use of communication technologies to convey messages.

Educational value
  • This is a valuable resource for an in-depth study of poster art in the year 9 Media arts curriculum. It is particularly relevant for the content descriptions about the creative use of communications technologies and digital materials to tell stories and explore concepts for diverse purposes and audiences. The section on malaria health posters supports students to develop knowledge and understanding of the key media arts concepts.
