  • This is a highly valuable resource for both the Communicating and the Understanding strands of the Italian language curriculum for years 7, 8, 9 and 10. It supports learning core vocabulary, language functions and register in a realistic context with an engaging and visually appealing mystery story. It provides a variety of excellent models of spoken Italian. The scenery of Bologna, Ravenna and surroundings also provides plenty of opportunity for cultural comparisons.
  • This resource supports completing tasks and reflections relating to how to translate between English and Italian to make meaning and provides opportunities to begin noticing how language variability and awareness play a role in exchanges, especially when talking to strangers and using the formal register. The episode also allows for discussion about the role of language and culture in achieving successful communication.
