GeogSpace: year 7 - exemplar

• Students investigate the causes, impacts and responses of specific atmospheric or hydrological hazards and approaches to water management and the ways in which the liveability of places can be assessed. They are encouraged to develop a range of geographical inquiry skills.
• The five illustrations provide students with the opportunity to: describe interconnections within environments and between people and places and describe how they change places and environments; identify and describe alternative strategies to a geographical challenge and propose a response, taking into account environmental, economic and social factors. They also have the opportunity to analyse geographical data and other information to propose simple explanations for spatial patterns, trends and relationships, and they draw conclusions based on the analysis of the data and information collected. Finally, students have the opportunity to reflect on their learning to propose responses to a contemporary geographical challenge.
• The resource supports the general capabilities of Literacy, Numeracy, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) capability, Personal and social capability, and Critical and creative thinking. The cross-curriculum priority of Sustainability is featured throughout.
