This web resource is a unit of work that focuses on students creating an original performance to demonstrate their understanding of the concept of positive friendship. It is part of Brigham Young University's theatre education database. The resource contains six lesson plans: Conflict resolution intro; Making friends; Accepting differences; Putting the pieces together; Present to class; and Present to another class. Each lesson plan contains sections on the learning objectives, materials needed, lesson directions and assessment.

Educational value
  • This resource would be very useful for the Making strand of the early primary Drama curriculum, particularly for content descriptions that refer to working collaboratively with others to explore role and dramatic action in dramatic play, improvisation and process drama.
  • It would also be useful for content descriptions that refer to creating, planning and sequencing ideas and stories in drama to experience and communicate feelings. Throughout the unit, students are encouraged to reflect on what friendship means, and how this relates to feelings.
