Dataset Child wellbeing

This is a web resource consisting of a database providing data on child wellbeing in OECD countries, including Australia. The 21 indicators used to measure child wellbeing are grouped into six categories: material wellbeing, housing and environment, educational wellbeing, health and safety, risky behaviours and quality of school life. The data table can be customised with options to view by country or indicator, with data subsets able to be displayed as a bar chart, line graph or scatter plot. The resource is produced by the Organisation for Economic and Co-operative Development (OECD).

  • This is a useful resource that supports the mathematics curriculum for years 9 and 10, particularly the content descriptions about identifying everyday questions and issues involving at least one numerical and at least one categorical variable, and collecting data from secondary sources; and evaluating statistical reports in the media and other places by linking claims to displays, statistics and representative data.
  • This is a useful resource for Geographical Knowledge and Understanding particularly for the content descriptions in year 10 Geographies of human wellbeing that refer to the different ways of measuring and mapping human wellbeing and development, and how these can be applied to measure differences between places; and the reasons for spatial variations between countries in selected indicators of human wellbeing. It would also be useful for the content description in Geographical Inquiry and Skills referring to evaluating multivariable data and other geographical information.
  • This resource supports the Asia and Australia's engagement with Asia cross-curriculum priority, with data on child wellbeing provided for Japan and Korea.
  • This resource supports the numeracy and intercultural understanding general capabilities.
