The teacher models strategies to settle the group and encourage children to focus and practise listening. The resource includes discussion questions for teachers and leaders. The video is 2 minutes and 43 seconds long and is part of a series of 4 short videos about intentional teaching developed by the Queensland Studies Authority.

  • This video is of considerable value to teachers, early years educators and leaders. It provides intentional teaching strategies that allow them to take an active role in children's learning. The teacher models and explains ideas in a group situation to make connections, build understanding and support learning.
  • The resource is a valuable professional learning resource for teachers, service leaders and professional development facilitators to help plan, reflect and engage with the five learning and development areas in the Queensland kindergarten learning guideline (QKLG). This guideline has been developed for prior-to-school settings.
  • The examples in the video also align with the learning outcomes of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF).
