This is a website to support teachers and students of Chinese, Indonesian and Japanese languages in Australian schools. The section for teachers includes professional learning modules, links to relevant networks and access to resources. It provides teachers with thirty curated learning challenges per language, and gives them the capacity to upload their own resources and create learning pathways for their students. The student section includes links to learning challenges that conclude with a quiz and graphic novel narratives set in China, Indonesia and Japan.

Educational value
  • This is a valuable resource because it provides a range of entry points and a variety of resources for students in Years 5 to 9 across the content descriptions for the curriculum strands of Communicating and Understanding. Site materials specifically support improvement of literacy skills and of oracy skills. The resource provides language learners with a greater amount of agency in their learning as they can choose their own pathway and broker extra support. The specific destinations provided by learning challenges give students a sense of achievement and knowledge of how their skill base is growing.
  • This resource is designed to complement existing classroom practice and to act as a bridge for teachers who wish to extend their repertoire of pedagogies. Examples of materials that will extend teaching practice include The Dragon Collective materials and professional learning modules such as The Australian Curriculum, Intercultural Language Learning, Literacy and Teaching Without English.
