The Financial wizard’s apprentice is a web-based multimedia resource providing interactive investigation of financial mathematics. After completing a multiple-choice ‘recruitment test’ reviewing some simple consumer arithmetic, the student begins their apprenticeship and advises their client on a range of financial matters.

  • This resource contains sections that are valuable for addressing the Australian Curriculum: Mathematics content description in Year 10 related to compound interest. Other sections may be suitable to extend suitable students with topics such as credit, taxation and annuities. The resource was originally written for the NSW General Mathematics Syllabus. The resource addresses the key competency of using technology by exploiting the functionality of spreadsheets to perform a range of functions including calculating, graphing/charting, modelling and predicting.
