Video Water management for poverty reduction

TLF ID M017164

This is a three-minute animated video about the difference that access to motor pumps for irrigation can make to poor farming families' food security and livelihood. It aims to persuade viewers that irrigation technologies in Sub-Saharan Africa are a worthy investment. The video sets the scene by illustrating the importance of agriculture to the rural poor; argues that motor pumps could help them to achieve higher yields and greater incomes as well as providing other advantages; and identifies what farmers need in order to gain access to motor pumps. The video concludes that investment in motor pumps could benefit 187 million people and generate net revenues of US$22 billion a year.
