Educational value
  • * This resource is valuable for civics and citizenship in years 3 and 4. It is particularly useful for the year 3 content description in the Knowledge and Understanding strand where students identify facts that support their point of view on issues that affect themselves and society. It also has relevance to the Civics and Citizenship Skills strand in year 4 that explores the purpose and services that local government provides to the community. * This resource is very valuable for the three strands in English at years 3 and 4. As the resource presents and seeks personal responses on why we care for cats and dogs, it is particularly useful for the Literature content descriptions at both year levels in the responding to literature and creating literature areas where texts are related to personal experiences. * This resource is very useful for the year 3 and year 4 science curriculum. It is relevant for the content descriptions referring to: living things depend on each other and the environment to survive; and living things have structural features to help them survive. * This resource includes an assessment task that requires students to write an imaginative text that illustrates an awareness of the behaviours of cats and dogs.
