This education pack is an International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) resource designed to build students' understanding about the special place domestic cats and dogs have in people's lives. The pack consists of a teaching guide, a student magazine and five student worksheets focusing on topics such as the physical characteristics and natural behaviours of cats and dogs, and the responsibilities in caring for cats and dogs. The resource contains links to an online video library and further teaching guides.

It is particularly useful for the sub-strand of Problem solving and decision making where students work together to identify an issue and decide on possible solutions and courses of action. * This resource is very valuable for the three strands in English at years 5 and 6. As the resource presents and seeks responses to the care of cats and dogs, it is particularly useful for the Literature content descriptions at both year levels in creating literary texts based on texts and personal experiences. * This resource is very useful for the year 5 and year 6 science curriculum. It is relevant for the content descriptions referring to: living things adapt to the environment to survive; and living things have structural features to help them survive.
