This lesson sequence is designed to introduce students to key aspects of the Murray-Darling Basin including the environment, geography, economy, people, history, water cycle and water management challenges. The lesson sequence includes a teacher PowerPoint presentation, separate teacher notes and a student worksheet. This resource is the first in a series of lesson sequences exploring the Murray-Darling Basin and provides a useful overview for the other lesson sequences in the series.

It examines environmental influences on human perceptions of place and liveability as well as the cultural, social, economic and environmental value of water using the Murray-Darling Basin as a case study.
  • This resource is valuable due to its relevance to the Biological sciences sub-strand of the year 7 science curriculum. It examines the water cycle in the Murray-Darling Basin.
