This resource is a 32 page pdf integrated inquiry unit, for junior primary students, exploring how Australian farmers produce food and fibre, for food, clothing and shelter. It includes activities that examine the variety of places where foods and fibres are produced in Australia, and what makes these spaces unique. All activities are sequenced using the five stage inquiry model. This resource also includes teacher notes, some fact sheets on Australian agriculture, links to additional supporting information, and supporting visual material designed and labelled for young learners.

Educational value
  • This is a useful resource for the Foundation to Year 2 Design and Technologies curriculum. The activity involving drawing a pictorial map of farm may be useful to the knowledge and understanding content description referring to how plants and animals are grown for food, clothing and shelter and how food is selected and prepared for healthy eating.
  • This resource is also relevant to several content descriptions in the Geography curriculum.
