This is a website about Indigenous experiences of invasion and war during the British invasion, World War I and World War II. The resource is presented in three sections: Introductory information; Story Objects; and Story Education Resources. There are eight story objects that tell the stories of individuals, events and artefacts and there are four Story Education Resources that link to comprehensive learning activities. The resource includes images, videos, transcripts, photos and links. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander users are warned that this material may contain images and voices of deceased persons, and images of places that could cause sorrow.

Educational value
  • This is a valuable resource for the World War 1 depth study in the year 9 History curriculum, particularly the content descriptions that refer to the reasons men enlisted to fight in World War I and the nature of warfare and Gallipoli. A number of Story Objects are relevant for these contents descriptions including: Invasion, First World War and War songs.
  • The resource is also very useful for the Making a nation depth study in the year 9 History curriculum. It is particularly relevant for the content description that refers to the effects of European settlement in Australia on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. The section of the resource titled State Library of Victoria: The impact of colonisation is useful here. A number of Story Objects are also relevant, these include: Oral history, Massacre Sites, Massacre map, Chimney Flats and Murderers Flat.
  • The resource is also of use for the Rights and freedoms depth study in the year 10 History curriculum. It has relevance for all six content descriptions in this study. The State library of Victoria: Indigenous Australians Story Education Resource is relevant here. It links to information, worksheets and resources about the Fight for rights and also has specific sections about Indigenous rights.
