Teacher guide Classroom Antarctica: Heard and McDonald Islands

This is a learning sequence that investigates questions related to the protection of significant landscapes such as sub-Antarctic islands. Students are guided to explore the climate, landforms, vegetation and wildlife of Heard Island. Through comparing two sub-Antarctic islands students gain an understanding of why these places are significant. Classroom Antarctica is a collection of teaching and learning activities for Years 3 to 8 that provides a range of short investigations on topics aligned to the Australian Curriculum. The activities are supported by resources sourced from the Australian Antarctic Divisions' scientific and environmental program.
