The Australian Ballet's EduHub provides a range of resources about ballet including information on their productions. This magical tale romps along to Delibes’ score. Swanhilda and Franz are in love…until Dr Coppelius’ haughty daughter appears. All is not what it seems and Swanilda must rescue Franz from the magician’s sinister doll-filled lair. Revived by The Australian Ballet’s founding Artistic Director Peggy van Praagh and Theatre Director George Ogilvie, it is dressed by designer Kristian Fredrikson. Resources include articles, photographs and videos on topics from pre-production (page) to performance (stage) including: a synopsis of the story and the character list; choreography; the music; set, costume and lighting design; as well as a behind the scenes section which provides background articles that examine the importance of historical context and costuming in this interpretation by The Australian Ballet. A downloadable teacher resource kit collates all the information and provides additional creative response tasks for students.
