This resource embeds the use of online collaboration tools and 21st century learning skills in a Stage 5 English project. Students explore the English textual concepts as they collaborate to research and create a personal story. Tasks include analysing a variety of personal stories told in different media and exploring ideas around telling the truth, perspective and point of view for composers and responders.

Educational value
  • This resource supports student-centered, project-based collaborative learning using Google Apps for Education, Microsoft Office 365 and other online tools. It uses the English textual concepts code and convention, context, genre, narrative, perspective, point of view and respresentation to guide students through a sequence of tasks involving researching and creating personal stories. 
  • Truth be told specifically supports the teaching and learning of the 21st century skills collaboration, knowledge construction and skilful communication as students organise themselves within their groups to create a collaborative personal story. Peer feedback and self-reflection are critical components of this learning sequence.
  • This resource embeds teacher professional learning around using ICT, collaborative tools and 21st century skills in the classroom. It also provides explicit pathways for learning across the curriculum content including Aboriginal and Torres Stait Islander histories and cultures, critical and creative thinking, ethical understanding, information and communication capability, intercultural understanding, and literacy.
