This 10 minute video in three parts offers an overview of what life was like in the ancient world. Part 1 introduces the Palaeolithic era, marked by the use of stone tools, focusing on Homo Sapiens, and the tools used to study this era - archaeology and anthropology. Part 2 discusses human foraging and the specialist techniques which developed in different communities. Archaeological finds reveal what people ate, how they used fire, the tools used and signs of art or writing. Anthropological studies of modern day foraging societies have shed light on the lifestyles of the ancient nomadic peoples. Part 3 looks at significant migrations throughout the world, and the underlying causes, such as population drops after earthquakes etc.
