- Ask students to visit the BBC's Development and health website.
- From the home screen select the tab for 'Physical factors'.
- Move the cursor over the map to identify four factors that can limit a country's development.
- Students select one physical factor for further research.
- Students find a media article reporting an instance of the physical factor they have chosen. They analyse the content of the article to explain how that incident affected the wellbeing of the community.
- Students provide a detailed explanation of the physical factor that affects wellbeing. The response may be made in the context of one specific location and should include:
- a detailed description of the factor
- the cause, frequency and effect of the factor
- the global sites where this factor occurs
- what mitigating measures can be implemented
- what the prospects are for the future of this factor.
- Students should present their response in the form of a short report or a single-page fact sheet.
