Reflective writing: the 3D format

A teacher at Kiama High School in NSW devised a scaffold that students can use to analyse texts and create reflective written responses to those texts. Her aim was to develop students' awareness of the strategies they need to analyse and evaluate how authors construct meaning, and to convey, in writing, the impact this has on them as readers/viewers.

The three-dimensional writing strategy supported students to reflect on a range of texts, and to share their analyses and evaluation of texts using a simple format.
