This is a unit of work about the regeneration and sustainable management of a mixed family farm and the natural watercourse that flows through it. Focusing on Yan Yan Gurt West farm in Victoria, the unit takes the form of a geographical case study with a sequence of six student activities. They include: an introductory map study; a study of climatic data; a study of water management issues at the farm including a photo interpretation exercise; and an exploration of the broader issues of managing riparian zones or dry land salinity. A final assessment activity requires students to create a high level water management plan for a hypothetical farm. The student activities are supported by teacher and student background information, student task sheets, and a list of online teacher resources. The unit is extended by the video 'Low Impact Sustainable Agriculture'.
