This work sample demonstrates evidence of student learning in relation to aspects of the achievement standards for Year 5 and 6 Self Introduction. The primary purpose for the work sample is to demonstrate the standard, so the focus is on what is evident in the sample not how it was created. The sample is an authentic representation of student work and may contain errors such as spelling mistakes and other inaccuracies. In this work sample students: • use strategies to locate and interpret information and ideas in texts, and demonstrate understanding by responding in Chinese or English • create texts, selecting and using a variety of vocabulary and sentence structures to suit context • sequence information and ideas, and use conventions appropriate to text type • apply rules for pronunciation and intonation, writing, character formation, punctuation and modelled structures, when creating and responding in Chinese.
