This work sample demonstrates evidence of student learning in relation to aspects of the achievement standards for Year 7 - 8: Reading comprehension. The primary purpose for the work sample is to demonstrate the standard, so the focus is on what is evident in the sample not how it was created. The sample is an authentic representation of student work and may contain errors such as spelling mistakes and other inaccuracies. In this work sample students: • interpret information, ideas and opinions in texts • demonstrate understanding of similarities and differences between languages, in both familiar and some unfamiliar cultural contexts, by adjusting and reorganising responses • demonstrate understanding that spoken, written and multimodal texts use different conventions, structures and features to convey meaning • comment on structures and features of Japanese text, using metalanguage.
