Text Work sample Year 7 – 8 Japanese: Obento project

This work sample demonstrates evidence of student learning in relation to aspects of the achievement standards for Year 7 - 8: Obento project. The primary purpose for the work sample is to demonstrate the standard, so the focus is on what is evident in the sample not how it was created. The sample is an authentic representation of student work and may contain errors such as spelling mistakes and other inaccuracies. In this work sample students: • use familiar language, and modelled sentence and grammatical structures to create texts, and demonstrate understanding of how some language reflects cultural practices • use some familiar katakana and kanji, and hiragana, with support • demonstrate understanding that Japanese has conventions and rules for scripts, non-verbal, spoken and written communication • comment on aspects of Japanese and English language structures and features, using metalanguage • demonstrate awareness that the Japanese language is connected with culture and identity, and how this is reflected in their own language(s), culture(s) and identity.
