This series of 10 short videos examines terrestrial and aquatic species in the Murray-Darling Basin. It features five endangered species: the bush stone-curlew, the Murray-Darling carpet python, squirrel gliders, the River Murray turtle and the native pygmy perch. Other topics covered in the series are; native animals as pets, the impacts of alien fish on aquatic ecosystems, threats to the woodland ecosystems in the Murray-Darling Basin, Indigenous gardens and the Eastern blue tongue lizard.

The videos explain how organisms interact with their physical environment, their role in the food chains and the impact of human interactions. * This resource is valuable due to its relevance to two curriculum content descriptions in the Geographical Knowledge and Understanding strand of the year 4 geography curriculum, providing information on the importance of environmental conditions to animals and people, including the impact that environmental influences have on a species ability to survive. * This resource may be of some value in the sustainability cross-curriculum priority when examining the importance of ecosystem connections for survival and the idea of looking to the past to design actions for sustainability.
