Resources
Visual thinking tools: graphic organiser templates that could be used to support the brainstorming task, such as the Web map and Y-chart, are available at http://www.globaleducation.edu.au/1840.html

Activity stepsShow details
- Introduce the activity by asking the question: What makes a place good to live in?
- Have students work in small groups to brainstorm what makes a place good to live in. Students should be guided to think about which aspects of liveability are important to them and how these might be the same or different for other members of their community.
- Through this process, students will generate a vocabulary list. Have them use this list to create either a large-scale poster or a digital presentation, which will be used as a reference point, added to and modified throughout further activities.
