In this activity, students consider the question: What are some of the different types of places people live in? Discussion includes different living environments in both Australia and other countries. Through this activity, students are introduced to key terms such as urban, rural and remote areas.

- As a whole class, have students brainstorm the question: What are some of the different types of places people live in? Guide the discussion to include different living environments in both Australia and other countries.
- Through this activity, introduce the students to key terms such as urban, rural and remote areas.
- Focusing questions could include:
- What types of places do people live in?
- How might the environment influence where someone lives?
- What other factors could influence where someone chooses to live? These factors could include: access to employment, lifestyle choices such as 'tree changers' and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander connection to country.
