Introduction

In this activity, students consider the concept of sustainability. Using a graphic organiser, they expand and connect key themes and ideas.

  1. As a whole class, have students brainstorm the concept of sustainability.
  2. Using a graphic organiser, have them expand and connect key themes and ideas.
  3. Use the following focusing questions to guide discussion:
     • What are some of the basic resources that people use every day?
     • Are these resources sustainable or non-sustainable?
     • What are some of the issues involved in making these resources sustainable?
  4. Prompt for answers that may include: more efficient cars, conserving clean water, and food production and distribution that conserve resources.
